Sylvia Maina, Arboretum Gardener

After graduating from the University of Maine in 2018 with a degree in environmental sciences, I discovered that my passion lies in botany and horticulture. I have done various types of field-based work including landscaping and ecological restoration in both the state of Washington and Massachusetts. In 2021, I completed a six-month internship at Garden in the Woods, which got me excited about public horticulture and deepened my knowledge of New England’s native plants.

I am excited to be a part of the horticulture team at Arnold Arboretum and to continue learning in this space!
