Meandering Meditation for Visually Impaired Participants

Nature has the power to evoke calm and beauty when we can step out of our hectic lives. This immersive experience in the Arnold Arboretum, designed specially for visually impaired participants, will invite attendees to practice mindfulness on a slow meander through the landscape. We will be stopping for several guided mindfulness practices to deepen our connection with the natural world. This will be a guided experience with some periods of silence. No experience with mindfulness or meditation necessary.

Facilitator Bob Linscott is a certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher at Brown University and Center for Mindfulness at UMASS Memorial Health Care.

Accessibility: This program will take place on pavement, crushed stone paths, and mowed grass. Service animals are welcome. The Arboretum will provide sighted guides for participants who request one on the registration form.

We will be sitting on the ground at times so travel camp chairs, yoga mats, or blankets are encouraged.

Audience: This program is geared towards adults with visually impairments.

Inclement weather policy: Participants will be notified via email at least 24 hours in advance if a program needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather, and will be notified by phone if a program must be cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice. Click here to view our full inclement weather policy. If you have questions about the status of a program, please email or call the Visitor Center desk between 10:00am and 4:00pm at (617) 384-5209.
