Memory Loss Tour with Ned Friedman

Join the Arnold Arboretum’s Director William (Ned) Friedman for a guided tour of the Arboretum, designed for those with dementia and their caregivers. Connect with nature, view seasonal plant highlights, and enjoy the spectacular colors of the Arboretum in autumn.

Accessibility: This program will take place on level, paved, roads. The route will be wheelchair accessible. There is accessible parking on Arborway just before and just after Arborway Gate.

Inclement weather policy: Participants will be notified via email at least 24 hours in advance if a program needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather, and will be notified by phone if a program must be cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice. Click here to view our full inclement weather policy. If you have questions about the status of a program, please email publicprograms@arnarb.harvard.edu or call the Visitor Center desk between 10:00am and 4:00pm at (617) 384-5209.

By subway

Take the MBTA Orange Line to its southern end—Forest Hills. Exit through the door marked “Arnold Arboretum.” Cross Washington Street and walk up Arborway to the Arboretum’s Forest Hills Gate on your left. Enter the gate and walk straight up the road. Take a left onto Beech Path and continue until it turns into a paved road (Hemlock Hill Road). Walk down Hemlock Hill Road. Just before Bussey Street Gate, turn right onto the dirt road and walk straight ahead to Walter Street Gate. Cross the road and take the dirt driveway to the Weld Hill Building parking lot.

By bus

Take the #35 or #38 to Centre Street @ Weld Hill. Walk northeast up Centre Street, past Weld Street, and take a right into the Weld Hill parking lot.

By car

There is a parking lot at the Weld Hill Research Building available for program participants.
