SUMMARY:Owl Observations
DESCRIPTION:Dusk is a perfect time to look and listen for Great Horned Owls\, often heard calling throughout the Arboretum’s collections. Join Arboretum Horticulturist Brendan Keegan and Matt Kamm\, Associate Director of Field Conservation at Zoo New England\, to hear about the owls’ breeding and nesting behavior\, learn how to go owling ethically\, and possibly hear and see a few owls as well. \n\n\n\nPlease note that we have the best chance of seeing owls if the group is calm and quiet\, so get your chatting out before the walk starts! \n\n\n\nAccessibility: Participants will walk over paved roads\, woodchip paths\, mowed grass\, and off-path terrain. There may be snow or ice on the paths\, so sturdy footwear is encouraged. \n\n\n\nAudience: This program is geared towards adults. \n\n\n\nInclement weather policy: Participants will be notified via email at least one day in advance if a program needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather\, and will be notified by phone if a program must be cancelled with less one day’s notice. Click here to view our full inclement weather policy. If you have questions about the status of a program\, please email publicprograms@arnarb.harvard.edu (inbox monitored on weekdays) or call the Visitor Center desk between 10:00am and 4:00pm at (617) 384-5209.
