SUMMARY:Tai Chi at the Arboretum
DESCRIPTION:Tai chi is a Chinese martial art known for its slow\, intentional movements which act as a form of moving meditation for practitioners. Join International Tai Chi Gold Medalist and referee Hongsheng Jin for this one-hour tai chi class\, appropriate for beginners and experienced students alike. The class will begin with breathwork and stretching\, continue with a moving meditation and a walk practice\, and conclude with a formal tai chi practice. \n\n\n\nThis program takes place in the Leventritt Shrub and Vine Garden\, which is a 10-minute walk from the closest parking on Arborway. The most direct route from Arborway involves walking over the crushed-stone Linden Path. \n\n\n\nAccessibility: This program takes place on flat\, mowed lawn. The instructor can adjust her instruction to meet people’s individual needs\, including accommodating disability or injury. \n\n\n\nAudience: This program is appropriate for ages 12+. \n\n\n\nInclement weather policy: Participants will be notified via email at least one day in advance if a program needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather\, and will be notified by phone if a program must be cancelled with less one day’s notice. Click here to view our full inclement weather policy. If you have questions about the status of a program\, please email publicprograms@arnarb.harvard.edu (inbox monitored on weekdays) or call the Visitor Center desk between 10:00am and 4:00pm at (617) 384-5209.
