SUMMARY:Patterns in Plants: Spirals\, Branching\, and More
DESCRIPTION:Discover the patterns that shape the plant world in this hands-on art program\, from spirals that follow the fibonacci sequence to branching that creates infinite fractals. After a brief crash course on the math and science behind these patterns with instructor Rachel Mirus\, you will move into creative\, art-based activities to explore these patterns further and start creating some of your own. \n\n\n\nThis is a outdoor walking program in the Arboretum landscape. Please bring a sketchbook\, pen or pencil\, eraser\, and any other art supplies you would like to work with. \n\n\n\nAccessibility: Participants may need to navigate mulch paths\, gravel\, off-path terrain\, and gentle to moderate slopes. \n\n\n\nAudience: This program is geared towards ages 16 and up. \n\n\n\nInclement weather policy: Participants will be notified via email at least one day in advance if a program needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather\, and will be notified by phone if a program must be cancelled with less one day’s notice. Click here to view our full inclement weather policy. If you have questions about the status of a program\, please email publicprograms@arnarb.harvard.edu (inbox monitored on weekdays) or call the Visitor Center desk between 10:00am and 4:00pm at (617) 384-5209. \n\n\n\nMake sure to select a number of tickets before clicking “Get Tickets” below!

SUMMARY:Cherry Blossoms in Bloom: Music Inspired by Nature
DESCRIPTION:Gather at the cherry blossoms for a one-of-a-kind concert celebrating this beautiful collection in peak bloom. Chloe DeSteno and Ariana Mascari\, graduate students at the New England Conservatory\, have assembled a collection of musical pieces about the cherries\, their cultural and historical impact\, as well as plants and the Arboretum more broadly–including one original piece composed for the Arboretum’s cherry collection itself. The concert will feature a chamber ensemble playing genres from Renaissance to jazz\, all rooted in classical music. \n\n\n\nSeating will be on the grass. We recommend bringing a blanket or lawn chair to sit on if desired\, as chairs will not be provided. \n\n\n\nWe are limiting registration in order to ensure all attendees can see and hear the performers. \n\n\n\nRain date: April 26\, 3:00-4:00pm. Registrants will be notified via email at least one day in advance if a program needs to be rescheduled due to inclement weather\, and will be notified by phone if a program must be rescheduled with less than one day’s notice. Click here to view our full inclement weather policy. If you have questions about the status of a program\, please email publicprograms@arnarb.harvard.edu (inbox monitored on weekdays) or call the Visitor Center desk between 10:00am and 4:00pm at (617) 384-5209. \n\n\n\nAccessibility: The Bradley Rosaceous Collection lawn is flat and close to the main road\, which is just inside the Arboretum’s Forest Hills Gate. \n\n\n\nAudience: This performance is appropriate for all ages. \n\n\n\nMake sure to select a number of tickets before clicking “Get Tickets” below!
