As the Arboretum’s Bonsai and Penjing Collection heads back out to the pavilion for the warm season, join Bonsai Specialist Jun Imabayashi for a special up-close look at these rare specimens. Jun is the caretaker of the Arboretum’s bonsai collection and has a wealth of knowledge on the history of the Arboretum’s bonsai trees, bonsai care and maintenance, and the cultural significance of the bonsai art form.

This program meets at the Dana Greenhouses at 1050 Centre Street, Boston. You are welcome to park in the Dana greenhouses parking lot for this program.

Accessibility: This program takes place on level ground in the Bonsai pavilion and greenhouses. The greenhouses are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.

Audience: This members-only program is geared towards adults.

By subway

Take the MBTA Orange Line to its southern end—Forest Hills. Exit through the door marked “Arnold Arboretum.” Cross Washington Street and walk up Arborway to the Arboretum’s Forest Hills Gate on your left. Enter the gate and walk straight up the road, follow the curve and head up Bussey Hill Road. Take a right on the driveway immediately after the entrance to the Leventritt Shrub & Vine Garden. Follow the driveway to the Dana Greenhouse Gates.

By bus

Take the #35 or #38 bus to Centre Street @ Faulkner Hospital. Cross Centre Street and enter through the Centre Street Gate, then in about 300 feet, bear left onto Bussey Hill Road. Walk a little way down the hill and take a left onto the driveway to the Dana Greenhouse Gates.

By car

Unless the program description indicates that you can park at the Greenhouses, the closest parking is Centre Street Gate (limited parking) or along Arborway near Forest Hills Gate (about a half mile walk).
