As the Manager of Horticulture, I supervise the horticultural technologists, arborists, gardeners, and apprentices who care for the Arnold Arboretum’s 265-acre landscape. I also work closely with the Arboretum’s Curator of Living Collections and Greenhouse and Nursery Manager to develop landscape management plans and strategies to ensure the long-term health of our plant collections.
I began my career at the Arboretum as an intern, while working toward a bachelor’s degree in biology at Northeastern University. After graduating from Northeastern in 2000, I joined the Arboretum’s staff as an apprentice and later became a full-time horticulturist. I have been the Manager of Horticulture since 2008. I am a Massachusetts-certified Arborist and Commercial Pesticide Applicator, and I am a member of the Professional Grounds Management Society. In spring 2010, I received a master’s degree in sustainability and environmental management from Harvard University’s Extension School.
