Education
M.Ed Secondary Science, The George Washington University
BS Biology, Boston College
I joined the Arnold Arboretum in June, 2011, as Program Manager for the Center for Tropical Forest Science. Some of my core responsibilities are accounting and reporting for several large grants, outreach, development assistance, and coordinating between Harvard and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute on the management of CTFS’s 41 research plots. I am Project Management (PMP) certified and enjoy supporting programs with global reach; I am particularly passionate about science and its link to sustainability.
Prior to joining Harvard, I worked at Earthwatch Institute as the Interim Director of Field Centers, and before that as Program Manager for Regional Climate Centers. I have spent five years living in rural Costa Rica where I worked as a science teacher and curriculum developer at a bilingual environmental education center, and as a biology trip leader for National Geographic Student Expeditions. I have also worked as an environmental consultant for the EPA, and a physical and environmental science teacher in DC Public Schools. I am fluent in Spanish and enjoy reading, politics, traveling, and running. I love spending time with my husband and daughter, as well as my extended family, and particularly enjoy bringing my daughter to the Arboretum and watching her explore this beautiful place.
