I started working at the Arnold Arboretum in the fall of 2006. I was previously employed as a climber/pruner in New York City’s Central Park, and in 2004 I served as a horticultural intern at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. There I met arborist Wayne Morris, who provided my first exposure to the field of arboriculture. I regularly assisted Wayne with residential tree work for the next several years. In 2005, I interned for a year at Wave Hill in the Bronx, followed by a position on the tree crew for the Central Park Conservancy. My work at the Arboretum began with a yearlong appointment as an arborist apprentice, and I was hired as a full-time arborist shortly thereafter. I enjoy my work immensely and feel lucky to be a part of the Arboretum. In the winter months I usually teach a few tree identification classes for the Arboretum’s Adult Education program.
