Research Interests
I am interested in understanding the role of forests in a changing climate, particularly in carbon sequestration. My current work is based in Bukit Timah, Singapore, where I installed dendrometers on trees, sampled soil, woody debris, and leaf litter. Bukit Timah has had a long history of human disturbances since the colonial period, and is now a forest fragment containing Singapore’s largest patch of primary forest and a sizable secondary forest. Comparisons of carbon stocks with other primary and secondary forests will be useful in improving forest management practices.
