Research Interests
My research interests focus on the plant interfaces between morphology and structural, developmental, phylogenetic, and reproductive biology. I explore the morphology, anatomy, and cell biology of early gymnosperms (e.g. Ginkgo) to modern angiosperms (e.g. Arabidopsis) to examine the plant evolution associated with morphological and structural traits. I studied male and female gametophyte development, floral organ morphogenesis, pollination, pollination drops (Ginkgo), fertilization, and embryology toward understanding the developmental processes in plant reproductive biology. My currently research programs use Arabidopsis as a model system to study the effects of multi-generational environmental changes (e.g. warming and carbon dioxide) on morphological and structural responses. I seek to explore micro-evolutionary trends at the microcosmic level to make predictions about plant evolutionary trends and consequences related to climate change.
