I joined the Childen’s Programs in 2010 to teach first grade life science as part of the Arboretum’s partnership with a local Boston Public School. In 2011, the Arboretum initiated a new partnership with the Boston Teachers Union School, in which I taught science in the preschool, kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms. For the 2012-13 academic year, I will be teaching the life science curricula in all classrooms K through fifth grade. The Arboretum is also deepening its partnership with two local Head Start centers, where I will be developing and teaching theme-based life science units throughout the year.
Prior to joining the Arboretum, I spent 20 years teaching in the Brookline Public Schools. My passion is working with young children, and finding ways to help them develop their thinking skills, increase their self confidence, and open their eyes to a world of amazing possibilities.
When not in the classroom, you will find me in my garden, puttering around with all types of colorful perennials. I also enjoy travel, cooking, reading, and all things artistic.
