The Arnold Arboretum has participated in the Free Fun Fridays program sponsored by the Highland Street Foundation since 2011. This year, 66 museums and cultural institutions will participate in the program. From June 27 through August 29, five to seven venues will be open free-of-charge every Friday over 10 weeks this summer. For the full program schedule and to learn more about Free Fun Fridays, visit the Highland Street Foundation website.
On Friday, July 25, 2014, the Arboretum will provide special free programming on the lawn outside the Hunnewell Building, including arborist demos, a horticulture truck display, kids art and science activities, and Arboretum information. Art+Bio Collaborative offers an insect observation and drawing activity, Plylo+Insecta, inviting kids to create works at the Arboretum for installation in a “Citizen-SciArt” exhibition in the Godine Family Gallery at MassArt (opening reception is July 25 from 5:30 to 7:30pm; runs through August 1).
